November was an eventful month. I wrote my last exams, found out my contact at work wasn’t going to be renewed for next year, within a week I managed to secure a new job for next year and bought more books than I thought. Unfortunately I didn’t complete any books this month.

I will be completing my qualification this year and during the month of November I wrote the last exam I will write for a long time (until I decide to go back to studying again). It was a bittersweet moment for me, as I am one of those crazy people that actually enjoy studying and learning new things. I particularly enjoy exam time. I love the late nights and early mornings, the cramming sessions and the panic on everyone’s faces at the exam venue.

As for my Job, well the place I work for currently, decided not to renew my contact for next year as they were under the assumption that I was leaving. Which was a false assumption to make. Long story short, I was angry but being a big girl, I didn’t focus on their stupidity and I got myself a new job within a week. Plus at my new job I will be doing the same type of work, I will just be getting paid a lot more. So in the end it worked out for me. Funny how the universe works. What you think is the end of the world is actually the universe nudging you in a better direction. Love It!!

Now let’s talk about the fun stuff. The Books.

I got a total of 11 books this month.

To be fair, I bought 1 of them back in August but it only arrived this month. I bought 5 on sale, and one I got as a surprise so I only paid full price for 4 books. That isn’t too bad.

So what did I get. Let’s break it down.

I started off the month by buying Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. I haven’t read Strange the Dreamer yet (GASP!! I know right, it is despicable) but I needed to get the second one as it is just so pretty and I wanted my covers to match.

I went to the Readers Warehouse store in Tokai. It was amazing. The store was massive, with TWO floors plus the books were cheap! They had a lovely variety of books, both old and new. They also stocked books with alternative covers. So if you are looking for a book with a particular cover, you might just stumble across it there. I just wish that it wasn’t so far away from where I stay.

I managed to find 3 books that I wanted. I was trying to stay on a book budget this month….it didn’t work out. Anyway, I bought a paperback copy of The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare for R50, The US paperback edition of Magnus Chase: The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan for R99 and a Hardback edition of Poison Study by Maria V Snyder for R59.

The next book in my Haul was the book I received in The Magic and Mischief Book Box. I bought the Rattle the Stars theme box back in August. The box was phenomenal! I will do a whole separate post on the contents of the box and my full thoughts. In the box I received the collectors edition of Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas and the BEST part is that it came with a SIGNED bookplate!! Now if you stay in South Africa you know getting a signed book is rare (unless it is a South African author) so getting a signed bookplate is a big deal, especially for an author as popular as Sarah J Maas.

Then came Black Friday! I knew that Bargain Books was going to have a 20% off everything sale, so I went to go pick up a copy of Fantastic Beasts and The Crimes of Grindelwald by JK Rowling and Fire and Blood by George R.R Martin.

After which my order from arrived. Earlier this month I had ordered 4 books. The 4th one was a surprise from my Husband ♥. These books do not appear in our local book stores as the authors are not as widely popular as the Sarah J Maas’s. I ordered the last two books in the Air Awakens Series by Elise Kova: Water’s Wrath and Crystal Crowned. I also got Heart of the Fae and Bride of the Sea both by Emma Hamm. Bride of the Sea was the surprise book from my husband♥.

Overall, it was a good month. I finished with my exams, I got a better paying job and I am extremely happy with my purchases. I will hopeful get to read all of them soon. With the December holidays soon approaching, I should have ample time to get to at least a few of them.

Light and Love
